FICTS Festival in France awards ‘The Blue Girl’ from Iran

The 6th Beausoleil Côte d’Azur Int'l FICTS Festival in France awards Iranian drama ‘The Blue Girl’.

Iranian feature-length drama ‘The Blue Girl’ has won new accolade at the 6th Beausoleil Côte d’Azur International FICTS Festival in France.

Directed by Keivan Majidi, ‘The Blue Girl’ competed at the International Competition Section of the event where it succeeded to bag the best sport film award.

Following the honor, ‘The Blue Girl’ has been qualified to enter the 2022 "World FICTS Challenge" — World Cinema and Sports Television Championship — in Milan, Italy. 

The Recess’ is another Iranian winner of the event, which along with ‘The Blue Girl’ made the two upcoming participants at the FICTS.  

The story of ‘The Blue Girl’ is set in a remote village in the rocky mountains of Kordestan Province, where everyone is in love with football, but there is no flat ground to play the game.

The children decide to climb up the mountain in order to find somewhere to play football.

The flick was previously screened at the 24th Religion Today Film Festival in Italy.

‘The Blue Girl’ is the recipient of the FCCI (Film Critics Circle of India) Award at the 8th Smile International Film Festival for Children and Youth (SIFFCY) in India.

Founded in 1983, the FICTS (Federation Internationale Cinema Television Sportifs) is recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for which it promotes the values of sport through film and television.

The 6th edition of the Beausoleil Côte d’Azur International FICTS Festival “wrapped-up in the presence of the FICTS President, Prof. Franco Ascani, on May 12 in a closing ceremony at the Prince Jacques Cultural Center of Monaco in Beausoleil, France,” writes the event’s official website.
